According to the American Kennel Club statistics for 2008, the Golden Retriever and the Poodle are ranked 4th and 9th respectively in terms of volume of registrations. This certainly supports their popularity in the US. These two breeds are as popular as they are for a number of reasons including temperament, gentleness, and intelligence. Cross-breeding the two gives you one fantastic family pet.

What are the doodle generations?

The "F1" is the designation given for the first cross-generation of a Poodle and a Golden retriever. The "F1" Goldendoodle is considered 50% poodle and 50% golden retriever. Their coats are typically low to moderate shedding and are better for homes with only slight/moderate allergies. Our Goldendoodle, Harvey, had a more wavy coat than curly and he does shed to a certain degree.

If you've never heard of a Goldendoodle and you're looking for a family pet, it's definitely time to find out about this gorgeous cross-breed. What's more, while you look into this unique breed of dog or any other kind of animal you have in mind, it's important to also look into pet insurance to provide for any demanding veterinary bills your pet may incur.
