What is the difference between F1, F1b, F1bb, F2b and Multigenerational

What are the doodle generations?

The "F1" is the designation given for the first cross-generation of a Poodle and a Golden retriever. The "F1" Goldendoodle is considered 50% poodle and 50% golden retriever. Their coats are typically low to moderate shedding and are better for homes with only slight/moderate allergies. Our Goldendoodle, Harvey, had a more wavy coat than curly and he does shed to a certain degree.

The F1 doodle possesses the marked intelligence, loving and devoted demeanor and allergy-friendly qualities that make doodles so popular. Our doodle really shows his intelligence in all the things he remembers and accomplishes. He is also cognizant of your emotions - sadness - crying etc. and will try to comfort you with a couple licks of his tongue.

The "F1b" Goldendoodle is the result of a cross between an F1 doodle and a poodle. This combination makes the resulting Goldendoodle pup 75% poodle and only 25% retriever. This genesis of the Goldendoodle is virtually nonshedding making them very allergy-friendly. The "F1b" Goldendoodle shows a greater variety of coat types, from long and wavy to short and curly. The "F1b" version of the Goldendoodle offers a bigger variety of coat colors - from white to black and many variations of brown Families with moderate to severe allergies to dogs will find the "F1b" a great option for them.

The "F1bb" Goldendoodle is a cross between an "F1b" (second generation Goldendoodle) and a Poodle. The resulting pup is then considered 85% Poodle and 15% Golden Retriever. This is the offspring of an F1b doodle and a poodle. F1BB Goldendoodles have the highest success rate for non-shedding and are recommended for families with severe allergies. The F1BB Goldendoodle is 85% Poodle which makes this generation the most hypo-allergenic of all the doodle generations. The F1BB Goldendoodles tend to have beautiful loose wavy to curly plush coats.

The "F2B" Goldendoodle is not the same as an "F1bb" Goldendoodle. The "F2B" is a cross between two "F1" Goldendoodles which results in a generation that is 62.5 Poodle and 37.5 Golden Retriever. This version of the Goldendoodle is very hypoallergenic and great for anyone with allergies to dogs.

Multigenerational doodles are a cross between two "F1b" doodles or higher generation. These dogs work well for families with moderate to severe allergies as they are generally nonshedding and allergy-friendly. Coat types vary as they do with the F1b generation.
